Emerald Tours Presents: The Ark and Creation Museum June 11th thru 13th

Day 1: The bus will arrive at Emerald Tours for an early morning departure for Kentucky. Our first attraction will be The Creation Museum. The state-of-the-art 75,000-square-foot museum brings the pages of the Bible to life, casting its characters and animals in dynamic form and placing them in familiar settings. Adam and Eve live in the Garden of Eden. Children play and dinosaurs roam near Eden’s Rivers. The serpent coils cunningly in the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Majestic murals, great masterpieces brimming with pulsating colors and details, provide a backdrop for many of the settings. The area within the museum has been divided into unusually configured spaces that allow for personal interaction with each of the 160 exhibits. Several parts of the museum, including the stunning forty-foot high portico with its cliff wall and floor-to-ceiling glass windows, flaunt open spaces and remarkable designs. Walk through the Garden of Eden. The themes of the exhibits resound in the theater presentations: Men in White, Six Days of Creation, and The Last Adam. Our Special Effects Theater, complete with rumbling seats and rising mists, takes visitors on a fantastic quest to find the real purpose and meaning of life. Each seat is a rocket launching pad in our Stargazers Planetarium. Prepare for lift-off. The digital projector showcases a spectacular gravity-defying spaceflight, a thrilling ride billions of light years away to the vast outer regions of our universe. Creatures great and small inhabit the three gardens that accentuate the landscape at the Creation Museum. Turtles rest on the logs in the lake, sunning themselves while a 12 foot topiary dinosaur strikes a fearsome pose in the rainforest garden. Bright flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies to the hillside garden, and the bog garden is home to carnivorous plants like the amazing Venus flytrap and pitcher plant. Over 6,000 plants have been placed within the lake, and 500 varieties of plants fill the gardens, displaying a rich palette of designs. Walk down Cherry-tree Lane. The arching bridges, tiled courtyards, and large gazebo are joined with a five-foot-wide paved walkway, just under a mile long, suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. Don’t miss a chance to enjoy the wonders of God’s creation in our Petting Zoo—something that’s sure to please children of all ages or just the child in you.
After our visit, we will travel the short distance to our hotel. (D)
Day 2: We will begin our day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel before departing for “Kentucky’s Newest Attraction,

Have you ever wondered how big was Noah’s Ark? How did Noah fit all of the animals on board? How did Noah feed and care for all of the animals? How did Noah build the Ark? Noah’s Ark was built in Full size to answer these questions and more! As you enter Noah’s world aboard the massive Ark, you’ll tour three decks filled with scores of world class exhibit bays. Lake Murry Dinner Cruise and Carter’s and Holme’s Orchids August 10, 2019

Come join Emerald Tours on our journey to Carter’s Orchids. We will learn pottery and learn how they grow the Orchids among other plants (house plants also).Bill Carter and Owen Holmes began selling orchids as cut flowers in the years following World War II when corsage flowers were in great demand for Valentine's Day, Easter, and Mother's Day. As lifestyles became less formal in the 1960's and the demand for cut flowers decreased, they began producing orchids for home growing. They started hybridizing orchids in the 1950's and developed their own modern laboratory for seed and tissue culture in the 1970's. The hybridizing program has resulted in worldwide recognition for Carter & Holmes as a source for outstanding orchids - in particular, art-shade Cattleyas. Today, they ship orchid plants of many genera to hobbyists and commercial growers throughout the United States and to many countries around the world.

We will also do The Spirit of Lake Murray Cruise that is conveniently located at Hollow Creek Marina on Highway 378 in Lexington County. August is the Season for the Purple Martins!! The Purple Martins are a migratory bird about the size of an adult human hand. They flock in mass numbers to Bomb Island most summers. Over 750,000 Purple Martins have been reported at Bomb Island, Lake Murray during peak season. Enjoy a beautiful sunset and Dinner as the Purple Martins flock back to Bomb Island. After our fun-filled day learning all about orchid’s, many other plants, and taking a dinner cruise we will head for home.
