Emerald Tours Presents: The Ark and Creation Museum Mar. 2-4, 2017

Day 1: The bus will arrive at Emerald Tours for an early morning departure for Kentucky. Our first attraction will be The Creation Museum. The state-of-the-art 75,000-square-foot museum brings the pages of the Bible to life, casting its characters and animals in dynamic form and placing them in familiar settings. Adam and Eve live in the Garden of Eden. Children play and dinosaurs roam near Eden’s Rivers. The serpent coils cunningly in the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Majestic murals, great masterpieces brimming with pulsating colors and details, provide a backdrop for many of the settings. The area within the museum has been divided into unusually configured spaces that allow for personal interaction with each of the 160 exhibits. Several parts of the museum, including the stunning forty-foot high portico with its cliff wall and floor-to-ceiling glass windows, flaunt open spaces and remarkable designs. Walk through the Garden of Eden. The themes of the exhibits resound in the theater presentations: Men in White, Six Days of Creation, and The Last Adam. Our Special Effects Theater, complete with rumbling seats and rising mists, takes visitors on a fantastic quest to find the real purpose and meaning of life. Each seat is a rocket launching pad in our Stargazers Planetarium. Prepare for lift-off. The digital projector showcases a spectacular gravity-defying spaceflight, a thrilling ride billions of light years away to the vast outer regions of our universe. Creatures great and small inhabit the three gardens that accentuate the landscape at the Creation Museum. Turtles rest on the logs in the lake, sunning themselves while a 12 foot topiary dinosaur strikes a fearsome pose in the rainforest garden. Bright flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies to the hillside garden, and the bog garden is home to carnivorous plants like the amazing Venus flytrap and pitcher plant. Over 6,000 plants have been placed within the lake, and 500 varieties of plants fill the gardens, displaying a rich palette of designs. Walk down Cherry-tree Lane. The arching bridges, tiled courtyards, and large gazebo are joined with a five-foot-wide paved walkway, just under a mile long, suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. Don’t miss a chance to enjoy the wonders of God’s creation in our Petting Zoo—something that’s sure to please children of all ages or just the child in you.
After our visit, we will travel the short distance to our hotel. (D)
Day 2: We will begin our day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel before departing for “Kentucky’s Newest Attraction,
“ NOAH’S ARK”. We will travel the short distance before arriving at the Ark. The Ark Encounter features a full-size Noah’s Ark, built according to the dimensions given in the Bible. Spanning 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high, this modern engineering marvel amazes visitors young and old. Ark Encounter is situated in the beautiful Williamstown, Kentucky, halfway between Cincinnati and Lexington on I-75. From the moment you turn the corner and the towering Ark comes into view, to the friendly animals in the zoo, to the jaw-dropping exhibits inside the Ark, you’ll experience the pages of the Bible like never before. Have you ever wondered how big was Noah’s Ark? How did Noah fit all of the animals on board? How did Noah feed and care for all of the animals? How did Noah build the Ark? Noah’s Ark was built in Full size to answer these questions and more! As you enter Noah’s world aboard the massive Ark, you’ll tour three decks filled with scores of world class exhibit bays. These stunning exhibits allow you to experience what Noah’s life may have been like. After our visit, we will stop for dinner and travel back to our hotel for the evening. (B,D)
Day 3: We will begin our day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel before checking out and traveling back to the Creations Museum for another short visit before traveling home. Our arrival should be early evening. (B)

Churches of The Frescoes and Ashe Cheese Factory Oct. 25, 2016

Come join Emerald Tours on our journey to Shatley Springs Inn for lunch (included) before we enjoy the BEAUTIFUL Churches of the Frescoes in Glendale Springs and West Jefferson, North Carolina. Benjamin Franklin Long IV, a renowned fresco painter, came to North Carolina in the mid 1970's and 1980's and painted a series of fresco murals in several area churches. True fresco painting is an old world style of painting directly on wet plaster walls. These types of mural paintings are especially hard to do, as a great deal of technique, skill, and preparation is required to create the desired effect. After our visit of the frescoes, we will depart and travel to the Ashe County Cheese Factory. Located in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains, Ashe County Cheese is Carolina's oldest cheese plant, producing quality cheese since 1930. Watch the fascinating process of cheese making from the viewing area (depending on schedule) and visit the cheese and gift shop. After our visit to the Beautiful frescoes and Ashe's Cheese Factory, we will then depart for home. We will be looking for your smiling face on our trip!
